The Assistant Leader, SchoolsPlus shall be responsible for the implementation of a collaborative and integrated model of service delivery in an effort to identify and connect students and families to comprehensive services and supports. The Assistant Leader works with the SchoolsPlus Leader to bring together multi-sector partners to develop and implement programs and initiatives to meet the needs of school communities; to coordinate services provided by multiple agencies and government departments for students and families at-risk; to supervise a team of Community Outreach Workers; and leading and championing positive ongoing communication with school administration, staff, and a broad range of government and community partners. The Assistant Leader will monitor the progress of students served by the program. Consistent with Halifax Regional Centre for Education and provincial policies, the Assistant SchoolsPlus Leader will work within an established accountability framework to ensure a high level of support and supervision is provided to the SchoolsPlus schools. Working collaboratively with Principals and other staff, the Assistant Leader reports directly to the SchoolsPlus Leader.


(a) A Masters Degree in Social Work preferred or equivalent such as a Bachelors Degree in Social Work with relevant experience;

(b) Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers;

(c) Minimum of three (3) years’ experience managing complex social work cases and facilitating interagency collaboration, preferably serving children and families;

(d) Experience supervising staff;

(e) Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle


Start Date:  June 27, 2022


Salary: This is a PEG (Professional Employees Group) position with an annual salary on the NCR 8 scale ranging from $64,941.50 - 85,235.71. Professional Employees Group (PEG) Terms and Conditions of Employment apply. 

Currently PEG Terms and Conditions of Employment apply, however, the SchoolsPlus Assistant Lead position will be migrated to the NSGEU bargaining unit in the future at which time, the NSGEU/HRCE Collective Agreement will be in effect.
